Father was nauseated and fall unconscious on the floor?

Daos asked:

My father is 60 and today he fell unconscious for a couple of seconds on the bathroom floor after he was nauseated. He’s eyes were wide open and when my mother panicked and screamed…he came back to consciousness.
This is the first time this has happened.
Sometimes he sweats around the chin area and he looks like he is not all there. His eye look blurry and he looks very unhappy (almost depressed).
Not known medical conditions except for frequent urination at night. He believes it could be prostate problems….possibly even prostate cancer.
He has been exceptionally physically strong all this life and until recently he jogged on the street almost daily.
He had a drinking problem 15 years ago but he has not had any alcohol since then. He doesn’t smoke or do drugs. Like most men his age….he has a little bit of a belly brought by aging ….not by obesity.
He is very stubborn and refuses to go to the doctor for fear that his company will lay him off. Plse suggest medical condition

Frequent urination is definitely a sign of a prostate problem, either benign or cancerous. The sweating could be a sign of a heart attack. The unconsiousness could be a sign of either stroke or a seizure. In all cases, he NEEDS to be checked out thoroughly by a doctor! His health is more important than his job…and most doctors offices will readily write a note excusing him from work!!

I am not sure of the medical condition, but he needs to get help immediately!!!
I will pray for you and your father, he deserves to have a long life.
We all don’t want to have an illness. Yet sometimes we all need help at times. Pray so that he is open to healing and allowing himself to be healed.
    God bless

The list of things that it could be is longer than your arm. Make him go to the doctor and have some tests run – you may just save his life.

    I second the Dark Knight.

These symptoms in people of that age often may indicate a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA, or “mini-stroke”).

I forget the exact figure, but I do believe that over 90% of individuals who have a TIA absolutely WILL go on to have a true stroke within the next 6 months.

So please, take your father to the doctor, and discuss the possibility of stroke and TIA.

Best wishes to your father’s health.

Sounds like he might be having mini seizures or strokes.

He really needs to go get a medical evaluation. Prostate will not make you pass out.

I had a stroke last year. It is not fun and I almost died.

Tell your Dad you are going to take him to the doctor. Make and appointment and go with him

It is possible that his blood sugar is running high, but symptoms suggest he is having mini-strokes. If he is the type that is a workaholic, or isn’t afraid to die, then tell him that strokes can render him partially paralyzed. He can be fully functioning in the brain but unable to move part or all of his body, and be unable to speak and make his needs known. If he wants to keep working, he had better get a checkup.

i wish that i could tell you exactly what it is but nausea can be associated with a number of things. I suggest that tomorrow you call his primary and get a appointment for him. They may want to run test on him to get a proper dx.

Good luck to you and your family

Call the medics to come to you. This is not anything to mess with tell him that if a stroke or other problem is caught soon enough it will only incapacitate him for a little while but, if he waits too long he may end up with a permanent problem and for sure it will mess with his job then

Tell him to go to the doctor anyway….. they might need to run blood work just in case he might have some sort of benign tumor/prostate cancer etc. Other than that, he needs to make sure he’s getting all his nutrients and take a good multivitamin because he is 60 and hes losing a lot of nutrients because hes jogging all the time.

THIS WHAT WE CALL SYNCOPE WHICH IS A BRIEF LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS DUE TO SUDDEN DECREASE IN BLOOD FLOW TO THE BRAIN, MULTIPLE CAUSES, HEART VALVE DISEASE,ARRHYTHMIA’S(SLOW HEART RATE), TIA WHICH IS A MINI STROKE CAN PRODUCE THOSE SYMPTOMS, VASOVAGAL, OR A SEIZURE..HE NEEDS TO SEE HIS DOCTOR…MIGHT BE SOMETHING WHICH CAN BE TREATED AND PREVENT FUTURE COMPLICATIONS
